Rome’s iconic Trevi Fountain has officially reopened after extensive restoration work, offering visitors a chance to experience its renewed splendor. For travelers planning a photoshoot at this historic site, it’s essential to be aware of the new rules in place to preserve the fountain’s beauty and manage visitor flow.
These measures were introduced to preserve the beauty of the Trevi Fountain and offer everyone a more pleasant and safe visiting experience.
Here are the key updates:

Opening Hours and Limited Access:
- Daily Access: The fountain is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with the last entry at 8:30 PM.
- Mondays and Fridays: Entry is postponed until 11:00 AM to allow for coin collection.
- Every Second Monday: Limited access from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM for routine maintenance.
- After 21:00: Free access without restrictions.
Outside these hours, access is free, but security personnel will remain on-site to ensure the fountain’s preservation.

Visitor Capacity:
To prevent overcrowding, a maximum of 400 visitors are allowed near the fountain at any given time. This measure ensures a comfortable experience for all.
The entrance is from the central staircase, while the exit is located at the gate on the side of Via dei Crociferi. At the entrance, exit and inside the monument there are staff dedicated to reception and security to ensure compliance with the rules and provide assistance to visitors.

- Sitting on the Basin Edge: Sitting on the edge of the fountain for photos is no longer permitted.
- Eating, Drinking, and Smoking: These activities are prohibited near the fountain to maintain cleanliness and respect for the monument.
